Library space is now at a premium – so let us help you find more of it

ProQuest has helped thousands of libraries reclaim valuable space and save money. Our experts can help you assess how much space and cost you can save by replacing hard copies of books, historical periodicals, including newspapers, government documents, music scores, and DVDs.

Let us match your physical books and periodicals to electronic version with our free, proprietary Title Matching Fast (TMF) service and fill gaps in your e-resource collections to support better teaching, learning and research.

"Collection storage isn't a sexy issue, so it’s always been hard to bring attention to it. Through this tragedy, we’ve been able to do that."

- Roxanne Missingham, university librarian and director of scholarly information services at Australian National University Chifley library
Guard Against Natural Disasters, Increase Space and More
Australian National University Case Study

ProQuest is experienced in helping libraries that have experienced flooding disasters to convert physical book and periodicals to electronic versions that also benefited from increased space savings.

When Australian National University (ANU) Chifley library lost collections in a massive flood, they said that their ProQuest DDA (demand-driven acquistion) collection was "absolute gold" in helping people through this time.

Roxanne Missingham said "ProQuest was the first vendor we reached out to. We gave them the files of our serials and monograph holdings, and they did a lot of comparative analysis. They were thinking not only about what we needed to replace, but how they could help ANU build a collection that would really stand the test of time for future research and education." In particular, this gave the library a chance to implement a new acquisition workflow based on usage evidence, as well as make other purchases which Chifley had been keen to do.

Ensure Access to E-Resources,  Increase Space and More
San Diego State University Case Study

When a series of challenges, including water damage and the COVID-19 pandemic struck San Diego State University's library, ProQuest's Title Matching program ensured library users could access content they needed – and helped open nearly 2,000 linear feet of space to expand in-demand seating and extended services.

The library’s title-matching report determined that 98 highly used titles would be made available digitally with ProQuest’s Periodical Archive Online Foundation Collection 1. This resulted in a savings of 1,530 feet of shelf space. And with ProQuest’s News, Policy and Politics Magazine Archive featuring Newsweek, seven titles were made digitally available for a savings of 276 ft of shelf space.
